Blogging really can be broken down into two categories. Get these right and you will have a successful blog.

What are they?

1. Content.

2. Marketing.

In this article we want to focus on the marketing aspects of blogging and more specifically the art of getting backlinks. We will leave the content part of blogging for future articles.

Backlinks Defined

So what are blog backlinks?

Here is a definition Google ranks for the question define backlinks!

“An incoming hyperlink from one web page to another website. The more backlinks you have pointing back to your site, the more popular it will be”

Of course you can substitute blog for website and get the meaning we are looking in terms of blog backlinks.

When your blog url is on another website or blog page you have a backlink. This is an obvious traffic tactic because when someone clicks on this backlink they land on your blog.

So, the goal is to get a lot of backlinks and increase the popularity or your blog. In return your traffic will increase because you are giving more people more ways to find you.

Is Getting Backlinks Hard?

It can be, depending on how you go about it. There certainly are not a lot of shortcuts to getting backlinks.

There is one important thing to keep in mind when backlinking and that is the quality of the link. Let me explain.

Let’s say you decide to do some guest blogging where you write and article and get it published on another blogger’s blog. This is a win-win situation because the blogger gets fresh content and you get to include a link or 2 back to your blog in the article or in the resource section at the bottom of the article.

This sound great, but here is what you need to keep in mind!

Backlinks-Quality Matter

If the blog you are writing for is brand new they do not have very many readers and they are not ranking very high on Google themselves yet. You are getting a backlink, but the quality of the link is not that good yet.

A better backlink is on a more established blog, or if you can get one on an authority blog. These are the blogs that already have good traffic and are ranking on Google and other search engines with a lot of backlinks of their own.

In summary the best blogging tip in this article is focus on backlinks and getting good quality of backlinks. This is a major way to get more blog traffic for your blog.

Interesting article, and one I wish I had read back when I first started blogging as a form of marketing my affiliate products. I can tell you that there are a lot of places online where you can find people willing to send you backlinks for set amounts of money. If you are short on time, and you don’t know exactly how to go about getting those backlinks on your own… This could be something to give a shot. Just make sure that you remember the phrase, “you get what you pay for” & don’t just trust your backlink strategy to the first person to offer to do it for a low, low price.
